Design Competition for Printing Smart Anchors in Jung-gu, 2021

Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation. announced a design competition for the Printing Smart Anchors in Jung-gu to propose a smart anchor facility for the revitalization of the printing industry by establishing an integrated smart printing factory including support facilities, start-up offices, and dormitories.

We focused on interaction & collaboration within printing processes, specialized small craftsmen & start-ups, and digitalized & advanced equipment. The circulation of diverse vehicles, equipment, and workers in the printing industry is carefully coordinated in the site plan. Based on the printing process and the raw material movement, programs are accommodated from the smart factory in the basements, the loading area on the ground, and supporting facilities for the printing industry on lower floors to collaborate with neighbors and residents.

To revitalize the surrounding area, we proposed the public area and an internal staircase on the ground floor. We highlight the vertical landscape connecting the park west of the site with a three-dimensional section plan. The characteristics of the printing industry and the surrounding context lead to an optimized mass design for each platform, and it represents the Printing smart anchor.
